Optimization Problems in Graphs with Locational Uncertainty

چکیده
Many discrete optimization problems amount to selecting a feasible set of edges least weight. We consider in this paper the context spatial graphs where positions vertices are uncertain and belong known uncertainty sets. The objective is minimize sum distances chosen for worst their first prove that these [Formula: see text]-hard even when sets consist either all spanning trees or s – t paths. Given hardness, we propose an exact solution algorithm combining integer programming formulations with cutting plane algorithm, identifying cases separation problem can be solved efficiently. also conservative approximation show its equivalence affine decision rule Euclidean distances. compare our algorithms three deterministic reformulations on instances inspired by scientific literature Steiner tree facility location problem. TSP With Locational Uncertainty: The Adversarial Model
In this paper we study a natural special case of the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) with point-locational-uncertainty which we will call the adversarial TSP problem (ATSP). Given a metric space (X, d) and a set of subsets R = {R1, R2, ..., Rn} : Ri ⊆ X, the goal is to devise an ordering of the regions, σR, that the tour will visit such that when a single point is chosen from each region, the ...

This issue is composed of updated and extended versions of seven papers selected at the IFAC Symposiums INCOM06 and INCOM09. All the papers passed through a rigorous peer review process with at least 3 referees each. This was performed twice: once before the symposium, for their initial version, and again after the symposium, for the extended version. The 12th and 13th IFAC symposiums INCOM06 (...
متن کاملModeling Uncertainty in Optimization Problems
This expository article discusses approaches for modeling optimization problems that involve uncertainty. The emphasis of the paper is on motivation and intuition rather than technical completeness. By virtue of its length, the paper is inevitably incomplete, and the reader is advised to look at other papers in this encyclopedia to explore the richness of modeling approaches that this paper can...
متن کاملSolving equations and optimization problems with uncertainty
We study the problem of detecting zeros of continuous functions that are known only up to an error bound, extending the theoretical work of [FK15b] with explicit algorithms and experiments with an implementation. More formally, the robustness of zero of a continuous map f : X → R is the maximal r > 0 such that each g : X → R with ‖f − g‖∞ ≤ r has a zero. We develop and implement an algorithm ap...
متن کاملOptimization Problems on Threshold Graphs
During the last three decades, different types of decompositions have been processed in the field of graph theory. Among these we mention: decompositions based on the additivity of some characteristics of the graph, decompositions where the adjacency law between the subsets of the partition is known, decompositions where the subgraph induced by every subset of the partition must have predetermi...
